2087 – The world is falling apart. The depletion of our planet’s resources is in sight. Alliances between nations are breaking as competition between them increases, and civil unrest is rampant as people lose faith in their leadership. The psychological effects are eating the human spirit. Horrifyingly, everyone can feel the end is near. Be it insurgency, starvation, mass dissention or uncontrollable disease, the heralded savior of technological innovation has failed to provide solutions... until now. There is one last hope on the horizon. Nexus Corporation has possibly uncovered the keys to time travel.
Nexus’s technology is as filled with promise, as it is with peril. As the potential is undeniable, the US government covertly funds Nexus’s “Project Daybreak” on an island in the Pacific Ocean. Human experimentation of this sort is a measure of last resort and it is undertaken with utmost secrecy. It is there that the world’s most promising solution meets its worst representatives – the futureless – convicts with no hope for retribution.
Often resulting in psychological trauma, loss of mental faculties or death, time travel experimentation is extremely dangerous. With our best and brightest needed to enforce rule at home and abroad, a consistent supply of human test subjects are needed. As our world continues its downward spiral, crimes of all nature skyrocket, further plaguing our overpopulated penitentiaries. “Project Daybreak” offers hopeless convicts a chance to once again gain freedom though an exchange of participation for sentence reduction. Volunteering prisoners leave all contact with the outside world behind and are steamed to Nexus Island with a twelve percent chance of survival.
Project Daybreak is progressing well until three convicts go missing on a routine “time jump” – a prison break in time. As US Special Operative Nolan Reeves, you are asked to go undercover as a convict, travel through time and track down the escapees. Upon completing your task, the only people aware of your mission, of your existence – have been killed. In an instant, your fictitious name and criminal record are now a reality. From this point forward you must play by the rules of the world you’ve been thrust in. Your survival relies on your ability to develop the skills necessary to manipulate the relationships with those in the world around you: inmates, factions, and the corrupt officers and officials who permeate Nexus Island. Your hopes for freedom are now dependent on your ability to time jump… because only through the reduction of sentence offered by “Project Daybreak”, can you ever hope to be free.
Nolan slowly uncovers a plot by the head of Nexus Corporation to change history for his personal gain, with the hope of becoming the sole proprietor of time travel technology. Stopping him will be his final and most difficult jump into history. Ultimately, Nolan emerges as the man who saves the world from an alternate, terrifying reality… a reality that nobody will ever see or know.
